Reply 12 postsRe: Topic 2 DQ 2According to my world view a person is the most beautiful and unique creation of the God. He made human being in his image. Only human person is blessed with qualities which help them to do good and make this world beautiful place to live. Human being is a superior creation of the God who has given authority and capability to take care of other creations of God which includes all living beings either human being or animal, and surrounding environment. I believe that human being is image of God and God is present in each human being so everyone should be treated with equal respect and dignity. God never did any discrimination, he made all human structure same, he blessed everyone with brain, lungs all other necessary organs to live and he always take care of everyone without discrimination. Everyone has access to his water, air, soil and all other natural resources regardless of physical appearance, gender, color or race. his/her. Human is the only species blessed with brain to think and make right choices and follows dignity and ethics to live an ideal life for himself and for other.About Bioethical issues, such as abortion, I am completely against the abortion if it is just because of gender choice, as it very common in developing countries where families or couple abort their girl child in order to keep family size small and full fill their desires for boy. It is inhuman act and its not acceptable at any cost. Abortion might be right choice for them who are unable to take care or provide them life which a human being deserves because of their own physical or mental incapacity or if there is possibility of major health concerns of unborn baby. Designer babies is totally a new term, have not heard much about it. But according to name it gives me the feeling that is should not be acceptable, it is against the God’s law, he creates human the best he thinks should be. So, human have no rights to play with God’s creation. Human embryonic stem cell (hESC) research is ethically and politically controversial because it involves the destruction of human embryos. As embryo has full potential to develop as a human being when it is implanted into a women’s uterus. So, again I feel that it is against God’s law who created this whole universe.References.Grand Canyon University. (Ed). (2020). Ethical issues in stem cell research. Endocrine reviews, 30(3), 204–213. https://doi.org/10.1210/er.2008-0031Reply 2In my worldview, the value of a person is found in God as God puts a high value on humankind. God created humans in His image, having not the physical characteristics of God but his characters. Out of God’s many creations, He places a great value on humanity. The value God places on us started from creating man in His image and likeness. Even when the first man Adam sinned against God, God went all the way out looking for how to restore man’s relationship to Himself. That is why God gave us Jesus His son to bear the sins of humankind in order for us to be saved. God values us, and He loves us so much and expects us to love one another too. The bible records in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God expects us to value and cherish human life the same way He values it.Questions on controversial bioethical issues are quite difficult to answer especially being a Christian and a nurse in the health care industry, where I am drawn between my belief in God, the ethics of the nursing profession, and patients’ rights. As a Christian, I view abortion as murder, killing unborn infants since life starts at conception and not when a baby is born. Usually, the first heartbeat is heard at six weeks of gestation, and the heartbeat implies that life is present. So, terminating this life while in the womb is against God’s will. Every unborn baby deserves a right to be born and live since they are also created by God and His image. Some individuals may think differently on this matter, and as a nurse, I must respect their rights and choices. Some occasions necessitate that a baby’s life is terminated if it will be a life-threatening experience for the mother; on such events, the mother’s decision is respected. My worldview on ethical issues such as designers’ babies and stem cell research is that these two show an improvement in science in decreasing the chances of transmitting genetic disorders and diseases to babies and the next generation in general and providing treatment for terminal illnesses like cancer.ReferencesGrand Canyon University (Ed). In this forum, your initial post will be made as a group (using the same group you self-selected and self-enrolled to earlier in the course). This means there should be one initial post/group. This discussion is an opportunity to share your final QI Report project as a whole and receive peer feedback.Instructions:This is a group assignment. You will develop a professional audio-visual presentation approximately 10-12 slides in length. The presentation should have bullets summarizing the sections of your QI Report of Project. Prepare the presentation as if you were presenting it at your agency and/or a professional conference. You should include the following:Submit audio-visual presentation, including the following slides:Title (1 slide)Background of Problem (2 slides)Analysis of Problem (3-4 slides)Action Plan (3-4 slides)List of References (1)The presentation should be professional in nature; minimize or eliminate “filler” words (e.g., “uh,” “like,” “you know”), slang, and disorganized thoughts. Be sure you speak clearly and at an appropriate pace. Slide should contain plenty of white space and be readable to the audience. Please clearly indicate using printed text (i.e., not audio) all group members’ names involved in this assignment.title:  Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers (HAPU)background of the problem(2 slides):  Over the years, hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPU) have been a major concern in hospitalized patients.“More than 2.5 million patients in the United States suffer from pressure ulcers in acute care facilities annually; sixty thousand of those patients die related to the complications of pressure ulcers” (Paul, Hanson, Hasenau & Dunn, 2013, p. 32).HAPU’s are more prevalent amongst patients with restricted/impaired mobility.Because patients are often very ill once admitted to an acute care setting, skin assessments and prevention measures are often delayed after admission. It is stated that “pressure ulcers contribute to extended length of hospital stay, infections, amputations, increased need for specialty consults, increased nursing time, and to the potential for hospital readmission”Analysis of Problem (3-4 slides):  According to the case study, HAPU rates on Unit B have risen significantly over the past 6 months. There is one Wound and Skin Care Nurse (WSCN), servicing the entire facility Monday-Friday from 8a-5p.The WSCN visits patients based on a computer generated list of patients at risk for skin breakdown.A problem arises when patients that need to be seen do not populate onto the daily list. The WSCN provides all the treatments due to the fact that direct care nurses state that they are not familiar with how to care for the patient with skin breakdown unless the WSCN provides specific directions.Missed OpportunitiesFloor nurses don’t know the best available evidence for prevention of skin breakdown.Patients are only assessed once during the midnight shift. In order for patients to be seen by the WSCN they must appear on a computer-generated list.Action Plan (3-4 slides):  Frequent position changes (at least every two hours)Avoid friction and shear when repositioning. When repositioning, use proper technique.Implement pressure relieving mattresses or surfaces.Avoid turning patient on an area that is already reddened related to pressure. For pressure ulcer prevention, do not rub or massage area.Emollients can be used to hydrate the skin.Barrier creams to protect skin from increased moisture.Frequent skin assessments per protocol.Nutritional risk assessments with interventions.Additional protein supplements in additional to their regular dietList of references: based on bibliography

M 410 Nursing Ethics Book Review AssignmentUnit 4 Week 7 Assignment – First, Do No Harm Book ReviewTwo novels will be read to achieve the overall learning objectives for this course.  (There will also be class discussions surrounding overriding themes in the book and relate them to our learning objectives for this course.  See discussion assignment and rubric.)  A book review will be done on First, Do No Harm.  Below is a suggestion of items to include in the review.  This is your review and what follows is only a suggestion of ideas you may want to include.  Bolded items are a must.  The review is to be concise and succinct.  Reviews longer than 1000 words will not be accepted.  Reviews of 500 words will be applauded, and reviews of 300 words or less will be held as exemplars as long as they contain the necessary information and thoughtful, insightful analysis.  Follow APA format, including a title page.  Paragraphs should be organized in thought and be five to seven sentences in length.  The review must contain 1 quote.  See book review rubric or instructor for further questions.  Successful completion of the book review is worth 50 points. Paragraph1:  Thesis sentence (attention-grabbing), name of the author, book title, main theme or genre, and possibly length, relevant details about who the author is and where he/she stands in the genre or field of inquiry, (You might also consider linking the title to the subject to show how the title explains the subject matter.), the context of the book and/or your review (Place your review in the framework of the implications it has on healthcare that makes sense to your audience and alerts readers to your “take” on the book.  In other words, review it as a nurse and let your audience know this context.), the thesis of the book (Description of the topic and overall perspective, argument or purpose. What specific contribution the book is trying to make?), and your thesis about the book. Paragraph2:  Summarize the book.   Remember, you only have 5-7 sentences here.    Paragraph3:  Critical assessment of the content (what was noteworthy, effectiveness or persuasiveness, how it enhanced (or not) your understanding of the issue).  Use tact in your criticism and evidence for your assertions.  Include comparisons to other books.  You may use more paragraphs here but remember to make your point succinctly.  These are busy nurses reading it!   Paragraph4:  Compare and contrast the book to a current (2019-2020) news event of another ethical dilemma in advancing medical technology.  Paragraph5: Conclusion:  Restate your thesis.  Include your recommendation as well as the audience it is best suited for.

Using Health Information Technology as a Source of Evidence-Based PracticeUsing Health Information Technology as a Source of Evidence-Based PracticeBefore the digital revolution, health information technology supplied very limited support for evidence-based practice. If nurses wanted to be informed about cutting-edge research, their best bet was to either subscribe to leading journals or make periodic trips to the library. With the establishment of research databases, however, nurses became empowered to learn about and facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research. Databases are just one example of how health information technology supports evidence-based practice. To prepare:Read the following scenario from the text (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2012, p. 482):Twelve-hour shifts are problematic for patient and nurse safety, and yet hospitals continue to keep the 12-hour shift schedule. In 2004, the Institute of Medicine (Board on Health Care Services & Institute of Medicine, 2004) published a report that referred to studies as early as 1988 that discussed the negative effects of rotating shifts on intervention accuracy. Workers with 12-hour shifts realized more fatigue than workers on 8-hour shifts. In another study done in Turkey by Ilhan, Durukan, Aras, Turkcuoglu, and Aygun (2006), factors relating to increased risk for injury were age of 24 or less, less than 4 years of nursing experience, working in the surgical intensive care units, and working for more than 8 hours.Consider how the resources identified in the scenario above could influence an organization’s practice.Select an issue in your practice that is of concern to you (my area of practice area of concern is the nursing shortage, we often have to work short in my hospital which creates many issues). Using health information technology, locate at least three evidence-based practice resources that address your concern and that could possibly inform further action.post a description of your practice concern. Outline how you used health information technology to locate evidence-based practices that address this concern. Cite and include insights from the resources. Analyze how health information technology supports evidence-based practice.Required ResourcesReadingsMcGonigle, D., & Mastrian, K. G.
